Memories of summer

I really started thinking about last summer. Not this last summer but the one before that. It was my junior year summer and I was working at ORU at ETV. Josh and I were living in the dorms together and it was a blast. It give me a taste of "real life." I mean that working from 9-5 then being able to do what you want! Yes!

Anyway, Josh and I would get back from working, have some frozen dinners, watch TV then maybe play a movie, Halo, or Second Life. Second Life. Boy that thing is weird. It's like a game but it's kind of an online environment that has everything the real world has. Like shops and cars and beach houses...

So Josh and I would play and talk to people, because everyone you saw was a real person. It was crazy! But we quickly grew tired of it because there were a lot of freaks out there. Sorry if anyone reading this is a normal Second Life user but it's turning/turned into a creepy place. Not everywhere though. I don't recommend kids getting on there, but I heard they have a Second Life teen or something.

[Get on with it!]

I know... I know...

Well, yesterday, CSI had a case involving Second Life and I told Jenni about it. Then tonight, The Office had a bit about it. Dwight had an avatar (character) in Second Life. It was awesome!

So I downloaded it and made a new account. I was all gung ho, but literally the second it came up and I started walking around I was bored again. I guess I just don't have the patience for it right now. I'm sure I'll get on there and play around sometimes though.

But I just wanted to share that with you. I hope that totally wasted your time.

Hey!

I don't know what it is today, but I feel as if I can conquer the world! It was looking like a rocky start this morning though.

I got up later than usual. Like 10-15 minutes later, not bad, but when you're tired you feel like you're really late! Then I got all dressed and ready in like a minute, so then I was really early! [Someone must be messing with my clocks]

So I decided to skip breakfast at home and Jenni was sleeping because she had off yesterday and today. I'm so freakin jealous! Guess where I went?! I'll give you 10 seconds to guess...

{BUZZER!}

I went to DoubleShot! I haven't been there in a while, mostly because I've been busy but I've also been making my own coffee in the morning. Well, it's DoubleShot coffee beans ground in a DoubleShot hand grinder, steeped and served in a DoubleShot press pot and consumed in a DoubleShot travel mug... So I guess I've also been there every day!

But a day ago, we ran out of beans. So I stopped in this morning, got a small Americano (thanks Isaiah) and brian scooped me up a pound of Guatemalan El Injerto. Oh, and I got a toad in a hole (kind of like a huge pig in a blanket). Then I spread out (literally) on the couch and read some articles from Coffee & Tea.

Well, I'm at work now, ready to conquer the day! Because it's Friday! Talk to you later!

Be sure to conquer your day too! It feels so good after...

p.s.
Did any of you catch the error in this post? It was on purpose...

Fall, is that you?!

This morning it was about 50 something degrees. Oh, so nice!
I put on my North Face wannabe jacket (green with black shoulders), grabbed my coffee and headed out the door, after walking Templeton of course.

But it probably wasn't totally necessary that I wore a jacket, I just love wearing jackets. Maybe it's because my mom had an obsession of buying me jackets...

So to make it worth while, I drove to work with the windows down. That made it chilly enough be cold but comfortable in my jacket.

Wow, that's not much, but that's a lot of talk about a jacket. I just really love the colder weather!

It's supposed to get a little warmer this weekend, which sucks, but it's going to get cooler again after that. High of 71 today I think. Awesome!

I also got to work early today because I have some videos that need to be uploaded by tomorrow. I love getting to work early because the drive is less crowded, the sun is still low, it's colder out, I can get more work done without interuptions... it's just nicer. Also, parking in the garage is easier!

Ok, that tape is done capturing so I'm gonna get going!

October 15th is Blog Action Day.

More Mountain Biking

As if I didn't get enough mountian biking last weekend, I'm going this Saturday to Lake Thunderbird in Norman, OK. It's supposed be an easy trail, but it should be fun! I'm already itching to do the Womble again!

I need to clean my bike off though! It's got some dust on it from the dirt roads and the gears need some lovin because they are ghost shifting a little bit.

The weather is starting to get really, really nice! That means I'm going to have to bike to work soon! I may bike this week and stop for breakfast at the Blue Dome DIner. They have great homemade bread!

I thought this pic was funny.

ORU

I don't know if you heard about it or not, but ORU is being sued by 3 former professors. These just recently terminated professors are bringing some interesting things to the table. I've met two of them before and these guys seem to be firm in what the believe.

I hate to say anything because I really love ORU, but like many other students at ORU, I have heard rumors in the past and with people in high places, sometimes they stray.

But here is what I have to say. Richard Roberts has been an ok guy. I've never met him personally though. I'm personally not attached to him in any way and if he is guilty, then I can't say I didn't see it coming.

BUT!

I am very thankful and appreciative of the education I received at ORU. Just because Richard and some VP's or whoever have been lying, stealing, cheating... doesn't mean that my professors have been doing the same.

I can vouch for my major course professors that they are much better people who are honest and have a high level of integrity. They taught me some amazing things from video editing to Christianity.

I'm not going to let Richard "steal my joy." (hah! but really)

So, do a Google search and you can even download a PDF of the legal file of the lawsuit or whatever it's called. If you have any comments, feel free to shoot em my way.

But to recap...
- I love ORU because of the friendships I made
- I spent some long nights with guys on my floor talking about religion and what not
- Playing Halo all night or watching movies!
- I am very thankful for the time and effort that my professors gave for me to get such a great education.

Well, I guess we just sit and wait...

Weekend is over... boo hoo...

I had a pretty nice weekend! I just played Halo 3 practically the whole time! But I'm really looking forward to this upcoming weekend!

This upcoming weekend is the Womble! The ORU Mountain Bike epic! Jenni is going and this will be her first time. She's gotten really good at mountain biking but I'm interested to see how she does on the seemingly never ending terrain. I'm sure she'll do fine.

Camping. Mountain biking. That's all you need for adventure. I'll be sure to bring the camera for the pics and maybe some video... that would be fun! I need like a helmet cam or something...

It's supposed to be in the upper 80's this week. Hopefully it drops a little bit for this weekend. I like it better when it's around 70's. That makes it cooler in the shade and just warm enough in the sun and when you're biking you go in and out of both.

Oh, a friend from work is going to Seattle and I'm going to have her pick me up some coffee. I'm just looking at what the good shops are and I think Trabant Coffee & Chai is the place. They have a free download of their local artist compilation, so if you are into the indie music scene and enjoy some coffee house style music, check it out at: trabantcoffee.com

Have I told you that I'm addicted to Mountain Dew? Well, it's not full blown yet but it's getting there. Jenni really loves it and I'm am starting to as well. Josh has always loved it to so I just can't get away from it!

I got a friend of mine hooked on Firefox and Google and all the "power user" computer/internet stuff. I think he's enjoying it but I know that stuff can get hard to figure out sometimes. What makes one person more tech savvy than the other?

Is it just that one person has more of an interest? Are they younger and more in touch with computers? Is it natural?

Computers and electronics and video games... they just come so natural to me. Some people can just figure their way around a computer while others are using the CD tray as a cupholder. I don't know.

That's all. Bye!
