Quote of the day

Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one
that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.

These makes no sense.

Really, they don't.

How it works - Zip Code edition

Well, it's not really a lesson on "how" it works but just kinda shows how it works.  Once you try it you'll understand.  Anyway, follow the link and start typing in a zip code.  It's an interactive map that shows what sections of the U.S. are broken down by the numbers in the zip code and it keeps zooming in to state, then city, then town and so on.  It's pretty cool!

Desktop Thursday! [20090129]

Anything in night vision usually looks awesome!  Especially when you have those invisible IR lasers bouncing around that can only be seen with night vision.  Another wallpaper courtesy of Army.mil on Flickr.  [view original]

Turn down the lights!

I guess YouTube is trying to save money on their electric bill.  I just saw this new feature.  Works pretty well!  Reminds me of Hulu.

Adult Merry-go-Round

I don't know if this is funnier with the audio or without.

Mr. Brighstide [A musical answer to dumb questions]

Here's something fun. Let's learn what your music says about you. I know not all of you have iPods, but put the radio on scan, your 5 disc changer on shuffle, or spend a shitload of quarters at your local juke box. Or just buy an ipod for crying out loud. My 2 year old has one. You should too. Anyway, here. . . .

1. Put your iTunes on Shuffle.

2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.

3. You must write down the name of the song no matter how silly it sounds!

4. Put any comments in brackets after the song name. [Makes me...]

5. Tag at least 10 friends.

6. Anyone tagged has to do the same, because fun pointlessness spreads like a virus.

*Mine are all from my iPhone which has a limited number of songs and as you can tell, a few bands get repeated.  Still counts though, but if I had my 60GB it would be way more varied.

If someone says, “Is this okay?” You say

"Never Had It" - Flobots

How would you describe yourself?

[This one is spot on sometimes]

What do you like in a guy/girl?

"Unwritten" - Natasha Bedingfield

How do you feel today?

"#34" - Dave Matthews Band

What is your life’s purpose?

"Hard Rain" - Shout Out Louds

What is your motto?

"Crow's Nest" - Halo 3 Soundtrack

What do your friends think of you?

"The Space Between" - Dave Matthews Band

"Technology" - The Pulsars

What is 2 + 2?

"Follow You Down" - Gin Blossoms

[Kinda provocative?]

What do you think of the person you like?

"Showdown" -  Peter and the Wolf

What do you want to be when you grow up?

"Cochise" - Audioslave

[Isn't that a real person?]

What do you think of when you see the person you like?

"Christmas Wrapping" - The Waitresses

What will you dance to at your wedding?

"Rhyme & Reason" - Dave Matthews Band

What will they play at your funeral?

"Gravedigger" - Dave Matthews

[Wow.  This is as creepy as that 20 Questions game]

What is your hobby/interest?

"Heart of Glass" - Deseridata

What is your biggest fear?

"Digging a Ditch" - Dave Matthews Band

[Probably because of my "funeral song"]

What is your biggest secret?

What I'm listening to...

This is kinda like a double dose of Tunes Tuesday but I couldn't help myself.  My lovely wife found the new Hillsong album online and we've been listening to it all weekend.

Anyway, watch this video from their latest album and see what you think or follow the links to see more.

* Check out Hillsong.com for all of their info.

Tunes Tuesday

Check out Scurds.com for your Tunes Tuesday.  TJ found some new releases that you may find interesting.  No comment on them yet but I'm sure he's looking into it.  Also, Scurds got a little facelift, looks good!

Weekend Fun

Well, the weekend is over.  Gosh I needed one more day!  It was a good weekend though.  My kid brother came to visit and we played pretty much Guitar Hero all day.  Well, it felt like that but we actually did do some other stuff.  We made the pilgrimage to EMS (you have to at least once a month) and the Apple store and even swung by Murky for some hot drinks.

After we were done I took him by my new office because he's never seen the new digs yet and then we went to Union Station for some snacks.  We made our rounds in the food court and got samples from any of the vendors that offered them.  I think the Japanese teriyaki chicken was the best.

I stayed up late on Saturday night and could barely stay awake through church on Sunday.  I also wanted to run, and put in some serious miles (well, not serious but at least 4 or 5 non stop because I've been running 1-2 miles) but I was way too tired.  I ended up taking like a 4 hour nap and woke up with the sun setting behind the clouds.

Not wanting to run in the dark because it was already cold enough I wasn't sure if I was still going to run but I talked myself into it.  I ended up doing just about 5.5 miles in 50 minutes.  It wasn't a fast pace at all, just testing the waters to make sure I could run non stop for 50 minutes.  I haven't in a while.

It felt good and I'm not really sore at all.  So I'll be sure to step it up next time and either go farther or make it faster.

But Monday is here and gladly it's over.  I am so tired!  I had some chicken nuggets when I got home and took another nap.  I feel much better now but I'm still too tired to do anything!  So good night!

Music Video Monday

Thanks to TJ, I really gained some interest in Radiohead.  I made this a Music Video Monday mostly because I love the song but the people singing in it are funny too.

Wowee.

Two cool things.  The Ariel Atom and Darth Vader.  Pretty sweet stuff.

Just doin' what monks do.

Honestly, if monks just walked around like this, I would probably have to sign up.
