Great weekend!

I think Jenni and I really had a great weekend. It was full of adventure and very relaxing at the same time.

Right now, we are just finishing off the weekend at Nordaggios. Yes, I shouldn't have gotten the chai train, but I did.

It's really weird though because the only kids that come in here are in fact such. Kids. The college kids aren't here so the high school kids have the run of the place. The place smells of emo and punk testosterone as boys try and flirt with the young ladies. Ok, it's not that bad. And they aren't all emo and punk.

But I'm just sitting here, getting caught up on my web surfing. I don't really get a chance to surf at work so I look forward to weekends.

I filled up my standard lined Moleskine so I bought a new one. I thought I'd try the reporters style. It's ok, not lined, and it opens differently, but it's still neat.

Jenni went to every furniture store around yesterday and reported back to me with the furniture she wanted. Matthis Brothers once again pulled through. We bought a set of bedroom furniture. It's a sleigh bed, dresser, nightstand, and the thing (I forget the name) that has drawers and a mirror... you know what I'm talking about.

Good thing about it all: pre-assembled. (except for the bed, but that was easy)
Bad thing about it all: everything was huge! I am so glad I have that van!

Dad,
You mentioned trading the van for the Buick? Yeah, no way. I see why you want it back. When the seats come out, you could park a plane in there! And thanks Nick for the hitch.

Matt and I went riding yesterday morning. We had a really good 2 hour ride around Turkey. I even talked him into doing the hike-a-bike. If you don't know what that is, it's like rock climbing without rope while carrying your bike. Yeah.

Jenni, myself, Josh, and Joanna all watched Deja Vu last night. Neat movie, hurt my brain though.

Oh, that made me think of my TV, remember, 32 inch HDTV. Well someone else I know got one. That means that everyone at my DE home has a bigger TV than Ana. She needs to sell hers and jump on the 32 inch bandwagon. You just can't beat the price of the 32 inch Vizio. The only downside that really bothers me are the speakers. At times they just can't get loud enough.

I want to post pictures of the bedroom and our office/spare room, but everything needs vacuuming (one word: styrafoam. No two words: styrafoam and dog) and cleaning.

I'm wearing my "I Love My Wife" t-shirt and it gets a lot of looks. I think that most people think she makes me wear it, then I tell them that I made it for her. "That is so cute!"

Well, I better get back to surfing the interweb. See ya.

It's not that I can't sleep... it's that I can't sleep. What I mean to say is that I guess I can't have a chai train after 7pm.

Jenni and I had a little night on the town. We also decided to swing by ORU because we were feeling a little nostalgic.

It was cool because there was no one on campus! We went to the CPO, the Internet Cafe, and we even used the bathrooms by the nurses office! Just like old times...

I really am/already miss ORU. I miss the college life. I mean, I love where I am right now, but I have so many good memories from college.

Anyway, I'm going to try and sleep now. I'll post some pictures from today soon.

Here. The weekend is.

I don't know about you, but this weeek was loonng. But the weekend is here! Jenni and I don't really have much planned except resting.

The apartment also needs cleaning. Oh boy, does it! We bought some bookshelves and a desk and there is so much styrafoam lying around...

I'll post some pics of that too. We plan on finally really cleaning up the spare room and I don't want to get any pics until it's all clean.

So, that's just a little update. Oh, and it's hot out.

Jenni and I went to the movies at Riverwalk Cinemas. It's nice because it's not very big, they don't charge very much and it doesn't have that "corporate" feel.

With it being smaller, they really make it feel more comfortable and the bathrooms are super clean. They even have doors that you can just push into to exit, you don't have to grab a handle!

A normal Tuesday.

Yup, it was just a normal Tuesday. Although it was pretty good. I got up early than usual so that meant that I got to have a more leisurely breakfast. I also got to work a little early so I was able to get some stuff done before everyone else came in.

But then I got home I got dinner, Jenni and I watched some TV, I washed my bike while Jenni went to Walmart to print some pictures. Then when she came back we went swimming. It's been great! The water is really warm and there is never anyone at the pool! We went swimming the other day too.

Also, last night, Bob let me borrow some tapes. He taped almost every televised cross country mountain bike race for years! I only took two for now, but I'm watching them right now. Intense!

Well, I'm going to go so I'll hopefully post again soon. See ya!

So sore...

Yesterday, the COTM MTB crew got together for some ride time at Keystone State Park. My first time there. I really, really like it! It's got some technical sections, some nice long downhill, some twisty singletrack... a little bit of everything.

I've always heard that Keystone is nice, but I found my new favorite trail! I can't wait to take Jenni there. She didn't come yesterday because she wasn't feeling 100%. But without here there, Bob and I were able to do the expert loop.

The whole crew did the beginner loop, then everyone decided what loop we would do next. The rest decided to do the beginner loop again and Bob and I did the expert.

Since I haven't ridden in a while, because of the rain, I didn't know how my body would like the expert loop, but man did it feel good. I took off following Bob, an excellent rider, as we carved through some soggy singletrack.

As soon as I found a "hole" I sprinted by and took the lead and held it for most the ride. I really just pretended I was racing. It felt so good! I was just gliding over those rocks and roots and as soon as I hit some hardpack, I would just motor and really gain some ground.

I forgot my water though, and by the end of the ride, I was a little more tired that I usually would have been. T-Town, my lbs (local bike shop) gave me some sort of energy chews or something, but I forgot those too.

On the ride home, Bob and I talked a lot about racing. He gave me some tips and tricks that will really help me out and I also asked him to keep training me as we ride together.

I can't wait to get out riding again, but I better go for now, let me leave you with some stats from the computer...

Date: July 9
Mileage: 6.22
June mileage: 31.04

Max speed: 18 mph
Ride time: 57:22 (nonstop)
Average: 6.4 mph

Oh, also, on Saturday, Jenni and I went riding at Turkey Mountain, but just the red loop. She is starting to do really well, she' clipped in too and that can be tricky but it's not a big problem for her I guess. She also can get up hills really well.

But when we were done, I raced her home, her in the van and me on the bike. Long story short, I got home about 60-90 seconds after her. She was just getting out of the van when I pulled up. I was flying, probably averaging around 16 mph.

Well, that's it for now. I'll have to post some pictures soon because this blog gets boring without pictures!

But do check out my Fickr account... it's has a lot of pics, mostly wedding right now. http://www.flickr.com/photos/scrappapervlog/

It's Friday!

It's Friday everyone! You know what that means... tomorrow is Saturday!

But I don't think I'll get to sleep in though... Yes, she's dragging me into the whole yard sale scene. But I do want to go, so it's not that bad. You just have to get up early or you'll miss all the good deals.

I also have been looking on Craigs List which is a great way to find household stuff for sale at a very good price. We're pretty much just looking for a dining room table/set. Here's our requirements, it must be sturdy, have a dark, espresso color, and also be more on the tall side. I'll let you know what we find if we find anything.

Here is a little update on Templeton, our dog. He is doing very well, a virtually totally potty trained and he's awesome! He is enjoying biting our hands however. But he doesn't bark at fireworks, he loves to snuggle, he listens when you yell at him or tell him something, and he is just great!

My boss gave me an OklaTravelNews coffee mug, which I'm using right now. I love it! I'll have to post a picture of it later. It makes me feel super official now! Just wait till I get my business cards!

While we are talking about work, lets give an update there. It's busy, but I really enjoy it. I love what I do, I love where I do it, and I love the people that I do it with. That sounded bad, but oh well. For those of you that don't know, I'm a video editor. I actually believe that my official title is "Craft Editor." Which basically means that I clean up various packages or stories, I prepare videos for the website by converting them into FLV's (flash video files), editing the hour and half show down to a 12 minute podcast, grabbing a camera and shooting stories with the reporters, and anything else they need me to do.

This isn't a plug or anything, but I am really impressed with what the OklaTravelNet is doing. We really show you a ton of great stuff to do in Oklahoma and I leave work wanting to get out and go to some of these events. If you live in Oklahoma or you are traveling through, definitely check out www.oklatravelnet.com for great things to see and do.

That's a good update for now, I'll try and post later this evening. Take care!

Happy 4th!

Hey all, and happy fourth of July.

No, Jenni and I are not going to watch fireworks, we did not attend any barbecues, heck we didn't even buy sparkelers. But that doesn't mean we aren't patriotic. It just means that we are super tired.

We both had to work today. I had to work because we have a live show every day and Jenni had to work because she is a waitress.

We both also expected to get out early, but that didn't exactly happen. I was done at 1pm, but I told one of the reporters that I would help him shoot a story at the Zoo. So that took a lot longer than expected, but it was still fun luckily.

I haven't been to the zoo in a long time and I got to see elephants, giraffes, monkeys, seals, birds... and I got to ride the train!

I'll have to show you package when it gets edited. It's the reporters job to edit the story.

Well, I gotta go, we are just watching a movie and going to sleep. I hope everyone else had a great day!

First mountain bike race.

Like I said in a previous post, I'm going to start racing. I get butterflies just thinking about it though. But in a good way. I used to run cross country in high school and before every race I would get nervous. But as soon as the race would start, I would be alright. So I know kind of what to expect.

Anyway, the first race is coming up on September 9th. It's in Arkansas City, Kansas. In races there are three different classes. Beginner, Sport, and Expert. After reading some stuff online, I came to a realization. I thought that Beginner is for people who are like "What's a presta valve?" and Expert was like really
expert. So I would have started racing in the Sport class.

But from what I read online, Beginner really means beginner racer. They say t
hat Sport is just super fast and expert is out of this world. So either I can get my butt kicked in Sport, or I can see where I stand and do a beginner race.

I have decided to do the beginner race because I have never raced before. So, if I turn out to be really good at it, then I'll move to sport, but we'll see.

Anyway, more about this first race. It's called the Tour de Lizard. The beginners do just one lap while sport does two and expert does 3. I'm actually not sure about the distance... I thought I just saw it but I must be mistaken... oh well.
I'll race in Beginner Senior Men (age 19-29).

I'm really excited because the race is on a Sunday but on Saturday they have a
free first time racers clinic. They teach you everything about racing and make it very understandable with a no drop practice ride at well below race pace.

So it's about 2 hours away. I don't want to drive to and from on Saturday, then to and from on Sunday, and they have a special pasta dinner on Saturday night... so that means... we're going camping! It will be our first camping trip together!
And Templeton's coming too!

It's going to be so much fun! So a quick second race update... the next one is the following weekend. It's a first annual 50 mile endurance race. It's just a bun
ch of laps but I really want to do it. It's called the Broken Nose 50 at Roman Nose State Park.

Well, I have to go so I'll leave you with some pictures, but I don't have any of me racing yet so I'll just take some from various bike blogs (courtesy of bikeblogs.com)

Just chillin.

It feels so good to just relax. Just ask Templeton, who likes to lay on the glass shelf of the entertainment center.

Jenni and I just had to go for a bike ride, but we decided to take it easy. It wasn't too hot and the sun poked out, so we rode down Riverside. That's it for now, I'll probably start winding down because we have to work in the morning.
